For the nature lover you can follow the Great Bunya Drive and visit the beautiful Bunya Mountains. A leisurely drive 56 km from Kingaroy this national park has the world’s largest stand of bunya pines. There are 35 kilometres of walking tracks ranging from 500 m leisurely stroll to a 10k hike. Various trails offer rainforest, grassland, eucalypt forest and water falls.
Meander the local roads and byways for wonderful picturesque views of the rich agricultural farming.
- Peanuts grown here since the early 1900's. The famous peanut van is a lovely 5 minute walk away.
Uncork the magic of the South Burnett wine industry and visit the various cellar door outlets at the local wineries. Take the South Burnett Wine and Food Trail or join the South Burnett Winery Tour.
Discover magnificent Lake Boondooma and try your hand at catching a big bass, visit Lake Barambah and Bjelke Petersen Dam for some recreation. If you like trail bike riding or four wheel driving head to Manar Park, a working cattle station and follow the 200km’s of marked trails.
Visit the timber towns of Blackbutt-Benarkin and call in at Taromeo Station, Jessie's Well, Tenant's tractor museum and discover the Linville to Blackbutt Rail Trail.
If your interest is in early settlement, visit the various Historical Villages and homes open for display and don't miss the Kumbia Federation Heritage Centre that houses the Meares Collection of photographs covering a 30 year span from 1925-1955.
